As Mainers Face Weeks of Mail Delays, Pingree Joins Call for Investigation into USPS Policies Delaying Mail

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) announced today she has signed on to a concurrent resolution objecting to increased postage rates and policies instituted by U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that are slowing down mail delivery. H.Con.Res. 54 calls a stop to these policies pending further investigation. The resolution was introduced by Congressman Kweisi Mfume (D-Md.) and is cosponsored by 17 Democratic Representatives.

"Every day my office receives dozens of complaints from constituents whose mail has been delayed or not delivered at all. This is unacceptable, full stop. Louis DeJoy has implemented policies that are deliberately slowing down mail, eroding the integrity and reliability of the America's beloved Postal Service," said Congresswoman Pingree. "This is not a problem in Maine alone. Americans all over the country are feeling the impact of Postmaster DeJoy's misguided leadership when their paychecks aren't delivered, bills arrive past the due dates, and medication doesn't come on time. I've cosponsored this resolution because enough is enough."
